In June, Los Cafeteros appointed Argentine coach Nestor Lorenzo as their new coach after sacking manager Reinaldo Rueda after just fifteen months in charge.

During the September international break, Lorenzo defeated Guatemala 4-1 in New York and Mexico 3-2 in California in successive friendly matches.

With two goals to Mexico’s advantage in the first half hour, Colombia were trailing, but a brace by Luis Sinisterra in the second half turned things around and preserved Lorenzo’s 100% record.

It will be important for Colombia to end the year on a positive note and extend their six-match winning streak across all competitions.

As a result of winning just three of their 18 games and scoring just 12 goals, Paraguay’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying campaign was disappointing.

It is still Guillermo Barros Schelotto in charge, and Los Guaranies have lost just one of their last five international matches.

Alex Valera scored the only goal of the game in a friendly against Peru on Thursday, securing a 1-0 victory, but Alexander Succar and Fabian Balbuena were both dismissed after a heated confrontation.

On Sunday, Paraguay will look to bounce back with a win after losing out to Peru three days ago. Colombia has only won one of their last nine meetings with Los Guaranies – a 2-1 away win in October 2017.
